Biography

Claudio Giuliani, born in Rome, began his musical studies with Fabrizio Cardassi and Tancredi Magenta, and graduated from the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome. He studied for several years with guitarist and composer Angelo Gilardino, earning a diploma from the Accademia Superiore Internazionale di Musica “Lorenzo Perosi” in Biella.

He has performed concerts in Italy and abroad as a soloist, in various chamber music ensembles, and with orchestras, giving world premieres of contemporary compositions, some of which were dedicated to him. He has published his transcriptions of works by Domenico Scarlatti and Domenico Cimarosa with Editioni Bèrben, and a critical edition of Anton Diabelli’s Op. 29 Sonatas with Ut Orpheus.

He has recorded 30 Sonatas by Cimarosa and Diabelli’s Three Sonatas Op. 29 for Brilliant Classics, the complete Studies Op. 38 by Napoléon Coste with Et’cetera, and a CD featuring five cycles of preludes composed by some of the most prominent guitarist-composers of our time, released by Da Vinci Classics.

In 2018, he received the “Premio Internazionale Domenico Cimarosa” for his works on the composer from Aversa.

His latest CD, released by Brilliant Classics, is dedicated to the complete recording of Francesco Molino’s Solo Guitar Sonatas.
